The Youth Shelter Program of Westchester provides a residential alternative to incarceration for male youth 16-21 years of age who have been charged with crimes in Westchester County. The youth, most of whom hail from Westchester County, are admitted to the Shelter by their presiding Judge while they are awaiting their court appearances. While at the Shelter, the youth participate in educational, vocational and recreational activities. The program offers a structured, yet nurturing environment with the goal of helping the young men to turn thier lives around, thus interrupting the cycle of reincarceration.
