The Mobile COVID-19 Testing Program is public health intervention operated by Housing Works through a partnership with NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA). Under the Mobile COVID-19 Testing initiative, mobile testing teams consisting of clinicians and support staff will travel to different locations, primarily in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx, to administer COVID-19 testing to clients and staff of facilities such as congregate residences, transitional housing programs, and domestic violence shelters. The goal of the Patient Encounter Associate is to ensure a positive, efficient experience for individuals, from registration through testing. The primary responsibilities of the Patient Encounter Specialist include but are not limited to scheduling, pre-registration, managing the patient check-in process, obtaining and verifying patient demographic and insurance information, determining insurance/payment source, identifying necessary additional information needed for the EHR, and assisting with determining and resolving registration issues. This opportunity is ideal for an individual with prior administrative experience in a medical setting or someone proficient with data entry and customer service skills who is interested gaining experience in the healthcare or public health field.

Key Responsibilities:
•        Greets patients in person at testing sites and updates their insurance/demographic information in the electronic medical record system.
•        Gathers registration and financial information for patient pre-registration, enters the information into the electronic medical record system and ensures all entries are complete and accurate.
•        Checks in patients upon arrival to the program and performs full registration, including verification of demographics, completion of consent forms, prioritizing and verifying sensitive patient health information.
•        Answers patients' inquiries about sign NOPP and other program consents.
•        Other administrative tasks assigned by the Program Manager as per the program needs.
•        Display Housing Works core values in all functions of the position.

•        HS Diploma/GED with exp in a medical registration setting, or Associates/Bachelor’s with proficiency in data entry & customer service.
•        Sensitivity to confidentiality and the needs of culturally, linguistically, and experientially diverse patient and employee population.
•        Microsoft Office proficiency.
•        One year experience in medical reception, registration or customer service.
•        Bilingual in English & either Spanish, Mandarin, Haitian-Creole, Cantonese, Russian, Korean helpful.
