Mental Health Counselor – Mental Health Counselor is the advanced journey level in the series and incumbents work under limited supervision and handle the more difficult assignments including provision of a wider array of behavioral health services. Positions in this class are assigned responsibility for outreach, intake, assessment, client placement, service intervention, and general counseling to individuals and families with varying levels of need. The responsibility includes providing daily back-up and other support for Human Services entry programs.
Transitional Age Youth - TAY Full Service Partnership Unit:
The Transitional Age Youth Full Service Partnership (TAY FSP) provides a comprehensive range of supportive services for youth ages 16 to 24 years old who struggle with emotional difficulties and/or mental illness; live in Napa County and are at risk of incarceration, out of home placement, psychiatric hospitalization, institutionalization or homelessness. Furthermore, this program assist youth who are unserved or underserved by the current system. Using a wraparound model, efforts are based in the community and encourage the youth to use their natural supports and resources. This process of working with the youth, their natural supports, and the TAY team, occurs through periodic and frequent contacts at home, at school, or in the community to address the youth's emotional, social, academic, and familial needs.
Services and support available to youth in the TAY program could include but are not limited to: setting and pursuing goals, identifying barriers, and implementing wellness strategies; housing assistance and learning independent living skills; engaging or re-engaging in continuing their education mental health and substance abuse treatment; accessing needed health and dental care, as well as family planning services; social linkages to natural supports and community resources.
