The Maya Angelou Academy program provides caring, therapeutic interventions for K-5 grade students who have struggled with behavioral and emotional difficulties and may have been removed from other schools. Maya Angelou Academy fosters the growth of each child’s potential for learning, creativity, and social-emotional development in a safe and nurturing environment.
Special Education Teachers provide multi-grade, standards-based instruction and academic interventions that afford students the opportunity to thrive academically. The Teacher provides a clear, consistent structure for the classroom, ensuring that each student’s needs are met within the guidelines of the Individualized Educational Program (IEP) and the Treatment Plan. It is our goal to provide an enriching and successful environment where students' strengths are celebrated and their needs addressed with a variety of targeted interventions.
"Teaching at Seneca has been one of the best professional decisions I have made. Seneca has always made sure that I have access to the resources I need to keep my lessons engaging, cutting-edge, and creative. Watching students engage with their own natural curiosities and build self-esteem as lifelong learners is endlessly rewarding."
