Under the direction of the Director of Nursing Operations (DON), the Assistant Director of Nursing for Quality Improvement will dually report to the DON as well as the Medical Directors and CMO as it relates to quality improvement initiatives for the healthcare department. The Assistant Director of Nursing for Quality Improvement (ADN-QI) will supervise all quality and performance improvement functions, data tracking, and clinical analysis to ensure regulatory compliance. The ADN-QI will contribute to the improvement of patient care in the areas of Primary Care, Embedded Shelter System, and Behavioral Health Services. The ADN-QI works closely with the DON to manage and improve performance improvement initiatives and workflows. The ADN-QI will collaborate with nursing, providers, and quality improvement leadership to analyze risk management initiatives, ensure auditory, survey readiness, and maintain data as it relates to patient quality. The ADN-QI will assist in the development clinical quality measures and supporting with policies and procedures for the healthcare department.

Essential Responsibilities:
        Support organizational commitment to quality through universal quality metrics as developed by the healthcare department:
          1.        Quality oversight
          2.        Risk management
          3.        Facility walkthrough and patient tracers
        Develop templates in electronic health record (eClinicalWorks) that allow for documentation by nursing and medical providers
        In conjunction with DON develops training modules for all clinical staff across the healthcare department as it relates to clinical charting, quality metrics, and data collection.
        Oversees clinical dashboards and provides monthly reporting to healthcare leadership
        Facilitate development of the quality structure (e.g., councils and committees)
        Participate in organization-wide strategic planning related to clinical quality
        Align quality and metrics identification with strategic goals
        Engage personnel to promote quality and safety (e.g., emergency preparedness, infection prevention, patient experience, provider network, vendors)
        Provide consultative support to clinical staff regarding their roles as it relates to governing bodies and grant funders
        Work closely with the IT department, ECW, and Data team to create systems for data collection, nursing templates, and measurable outcomes
        Access data management systems builds (e.g., data bases, registries, quality tracking)
        Evaluate and integrate internal best practices within the nursing department
        Participate in activities to identify and evaluate innovative solutions and practices
        Participate in staff understanding of quality, health promotion and continuum of care activities (e.g., nursing education, transitions of care, episodes of care, outcomes, healthcare utilization)
         Communicate resource needs allocation to improve quality
        Execute grant funders requirements to recognize quality initiatives impacting reimbursement
        Participates in safety and risk management activities related to a. incident report review (e.g., near miss and actual events) b. sentinel/unexpected event review (e.g., never events) c. root cause analysis d. failure mode and effects analysis

Education Credentials/Requirements:
        New York State licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
        Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or other electronic health records
        Experience working at an FQHC
