TITLE: Housing Navigator Assistant
LOCATION: Jersey City, NJ
JOB TYPE: Full-time / 40 hours per week
The Housing Navigator Assistant will complete inspections and paperwork related to housing placements for homeless individuals and families referred with Hudson County COC rental assistance vouchers. This may also include discussing the program with landlords, leasing agents and or brokers when in the field to persuade them to work with referred clients.
The Hudson Community Wellness Center and its programs provide a safe place for homeless and vulnerable individuals and provide opportunities for individuals to address poverty and service needs.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Sales, or Human Services or HS Diploma plus 4 years of relevant work. NJ Real Estate License preferred. Experience in real estate, property management or leasing, sales, public relations, or similar field. Must have an understanding of, and commitment to, the Housing First philosophy and wellness and recovery practices. Understanding of, and commitment to, strengths-based services. Ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, particularly listening and verbal communication, is detailed oriented and has an understanding of basic landlord-tenant responsibilities and NJ tenant-landlord law. Fluency in the English language is required. Spanish speaking ability is an added asset but is not required. Valid New Jersey driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
