Urban Pathways serves as the first point of contact for New York City's most vulnerable residents - people living on the streets, in subways, or in public areas. An innovative and data-driven leader, Urban Pathways is known for the effectiveness of our "housing first" approach. We engage individuals where they are in the cycle of homelessness. Through outreach and drop-in center services, transitional, long-term and permanent housing, and comprehensive support services, Urban Pathways helps more than 2,000 homeless men and women take control of their lives and find their way home. Urban Pathways is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization. We seek to hire talented and highly motivated individuals who will partner with us to provide excellent service to our clients.

We are currently seeking Full-time & Per-Diem/Floaters Maintenance employees for our programs located in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Astoria.

Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Maintenance Worker's duties include:

•Maintains, cleans, repairs and ensures the safety of the building as instructed by the Director of Operations.
•Mops, cleans, strips, and buffs floors as scheduled.
•Provides facility with consistent assessment of maintenance needs.
•Maintains all aspects of the physical facility in proper order as well as coordinates with the Director of Operations to develop a preventative maintenance plan.
•Paints, changes light bulbs, and performs minor repairs.

Job Qualifications:

•High School Diploma or GED preferred.
•Valid driver's license and willingness to drive agency vehicle preferred.
•Some formal training in building maintenance/construction with ability to diagnose simple technical problems, perform minor repairs in the facility, perform carpentry and painting, identify technical problems and discuss solution with Director of Operations preferred.
•Sensitivity and patience in working with homeless and mentally ill people.
•Good verbal and written communication skills.
•Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office a plus.
•Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
•Clean drivers record a plus.

Physical Requirements:
•Lift at least 50 lbs, and walk, stand, push or pull, climb stairs and ladders frequently, bend, carry goods including furniture, supplies and equipment and exert all other medium to heavy physical effort.
