Position Summary: MDFT Therapists provide culturally competent, clinically oriented, short term treatment in compliance with the MDFT model and its policies, procedures and accountability as well as those of the Administration of Children’s Services (ACS). Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) is an intensive, short term (4 months) clinical, evidence-based family treatment model of service delivery that can be tailored to the needs of adolescents between the ages of 11 and 18 and their families. The four treatment domains are the individual adolescent, the parent(s), the family and the community. Therapeutic interventions are provided in the home, office, and school and include essential community partners in the therapeutic process. This model is most effective in the treatment of adolescents who are experimenting with or abusing substances, and/or may evidence co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders.

Responsibilities: General responsibilities for the position of MDFT Therapist include:
•Carry caseload of approximately 10 MDFT cases.
•Attend all MDFT trainings as required.
•Participate in all weekly conference calls with MDFT trainer.
•Complete all weeklies as required by MDFT consultant.
•Implement all MDFT protocols as provided by the MDFT consultant and documented in the MDFT manual.   
•Audiotape or videotape MDFT sessions as required for ongoing MDFT quality control and training purposes as needed.
•Allow for live supervision of sessions by MDFT trainer and/or site supervisor as required.
•Allow for DVD review of sessions by MDFT trainer and/or site supervisor.
•Prepare for and take all MDFT written exams in order to obtain certification as MDFT therapist.
•Administer the MDFT treatment consistent with the MDFT model to ensure fidelity to the model.
•Open all cases in the MDFT Portal, enter all contacts in the portal as well complete all Intake and Discharge Forms in the portal as required.
•Fulfill all OCFS, ACS, Evidence-based and other accountability compliance requirements in a timely fashion.
•Be available 24/7 or as needed to respond to client crises. Weekend coverage is required for sessions, as needed, to accommodate client availability.
•Complete all home-based contacts and maintain four CWC (case work contacts) per month per family as specified by ACS.
•Ensure that all client contacts meet the required dosage of 360 minutes a month, comprising of three family sessions, two adolescent sessions and three parent sessions per month..
•Will be required to accept cases in another borough as needed.
•Accept other tasks as assigned.

•Master’s degree in social work (MSW) or a MA in a related field required.
•Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
•Experience working with adolescents and families in a child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice setting.
•Willingness to learn and work within the Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) philosophy and model.
•Ability and willingness to work with families and teens in the home, school and other appropriate settings in the community.
•Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends.
•Ability to work independently, as well as contribute to a team.

•Strong clinical skills and very good interpersonal/communication skills.
•Flexibility, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
•Very good interpersonal/communication skills, including ability to write well and meet copious amount of documentation in a timely manner.
