New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) is an award-winning not-for-profit agency in Midtown Manhattan, with a satellite Bronx office, dedicated to serving children and families with medical complexity, chronic health conditions, significant disabilities and behavioral challenges. To assist in achieving this mission, NAC is currently seeking a Fee-for-Services Psychotherapist to join its Mental Health Services Department.

Position Type: Full Time and Part –Time
Location: 825 7th Ave, New York, NY 10019

Organization/Department/Program: Delivers mental health treatment services in New Alternatives for Children’s Article 31 Mental Health Clinic Program. Provides individual, collateral, family, and/or group psychotherapy, intake and assessment, and crisis intervention services. Clinic primarily serves children and families involved in the child welfare system. Completes required documentation within prescribed timeframes. Clinical supervision provided.

Description of Responsibilities:
•Provides individual, collateral and/or group psychotherapy sessions to clients in NAC’s Mental Health Clinic;
•Completes intake evaluations;
•Documents sessions by means of progress notes;
•Completes required documentation including treatment plans and quarterly treatment plan reviews;
•Assigned clients, but makes own appointments;
•Works with the NAC multidisciplinary team, the client’s family, and other service providers as appropriate, to meet treatment goals and assure continuity of care; and
•Performs all duties in accordance with New York State Office of Mental Health and federal regulations, as well as NAC’s Mental Health Clinic Treatment Program Policy & Procedures Manual.

Required Education and Experience:
•Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists or Licensed Psychologist

Required Skills:
•Prior experience in a community-based outpatient mental health clinic, child welfare clients strongly preferred.
•CASAC or substance use treatment experience a plus.
•Bi-lingual strongly preferred (English – Spanish).
