Description
VICTIM ADVOCATE (LAMOREAUX JUSTICE CENTER)
Domestic Violence Assistance Programs - Orange. F/T, Monday – Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
Responsibilities Include:
• Provide assistance to victims of domestic violence in obtaining restraining orders.
• Provide necessary services to assure immediate safety and long-term needs of the client and his/her dependents.
• Work in collaboration with law enforcement, court, and partner agencies.
Requirements Include:
• Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, family dynamics, sociological aspects of family violence and victimology.
• Two years of related experience working with people in a position involving the provision of victim services and/or peer counseling preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
• Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and to be sensitive to the needs of special populations.
• In the first year of employment, must complete training for certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor as mandated by PC13835.10, and training as a certified Domestic Violence Counselor.
• Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
