Division: Wheaton Youth Outreach (WYO)
Wheaton Youth Outreach is a community-based youth and family resource center serving the greater Wheaton area. Services include counseling for individuals, couples and families, crisis intervention for runaway and homeless teens, casework services for basic needs, and transitional housing for young women.
Job Responsibilities: The Therapist/ Crisis Intervention Program Coordinator serves on WYO’s Specialized Youth Services Team and maintains a half-time caseload providing support and therapy to youth in crisis to keep youth safe, connected to their parents and prevent or minimize involvement with child welfare and juvenile justice systems. This position is also responsible for the development, implementation, and administrative supervision of the Crisis Intervention Program (CCBYS). Specific administrative responsibilities include crisis team training and supervision (staff and interns); oversight for crisis grant records, monthly statistical reports, and audits; establishing and maintaining community contacts including the police department, schools, youth pastors, parents, and other service providers; the provision of consultation and educational services to schools, churches, and parent groups; and program evaluation. This position facilitates the crisis intervention team and provides clinical consultation as needed. Reports to the Counseling Program Director.
Requirements: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field; LSW/ LPC/ AMFT strongly preferred; 3 years of experience in systemic interventions with youth; ability to navigate the educational, legal, and mental health delivery systems; sensitivity to the needs of a low-income, culturally diverse population. Valid IL driver’s license, insurance, reliable vehicle, and good driving record. Must live within 30 minutes of downtown Wheaton to respond to crisis calls. Microsoft Word/ Excel. A commitment to OCM’s Statement of Mission and Faith. Bilingual (Spanish/ English) a plus.
Status: Full-time at 40-45 hours/week. M-F with 2 evenings/week; availability to provide back-up coverage for the crisis phone or on-call consultation on a rotating basis.
Compensation: Salary for this position falls between $45,000 and $50,000 based on clinical experience and licensure. Additional compensation for crisis work performed after hours.
