We are currently hiring Substance Use Counselors (evening/overnight shifts) for our soon-to-open Support and Connection Center - a first of its kind in the Bronx. The Support and Connection Center is a new entity type offering a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use disorder services to individuals referred by NYPD. The center will provide 24/7/365 client-centered, short stay, engagement and stabilization/treatment alternative for people who are experiencing non-emergency psychiatric symptoms, drug use and/or non-emergency medical issues. The Samaritan Daytop Village’s Support Center will provide true integration of Mental Health, Substance Use, and Medical Care to individuals in need of support.

In this role you will:

The Substance Use Counselor provides behavioral counseling and education to substance use population through individual and group sessions. The position manages a caseload of clients and is responsible for keeping all required documentation up to date. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

What qualifications do you need:.

High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
CASAC-T or CASAC certification required.
Minimum One-Two (1-2) years related experience working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
Knowledge and/or training in Trauma Informed Care and various organizational treatment.
Knowledge of and experience working with persons with co-occurring disorders.
Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR.
Available to work a flexible schedule and be to work all three shifts as needed in response to participant and staff needs.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
