Entry Level (Direct Service) Positions Available - Sessions at 12:30pm & 1:30pm

All Schedules are Full-Time with 3-Day/Week Shifts

Day Shift 3 days a week 8:00am-9:30pm

Overnight Shift 3 days a week 8:00pm-9:30am

BRC is opening a new shelter in Jamaica, Queens called the Beaver Pond Residence and Astoria Queens called Blue Sky. These programs are employment shelters for couples who are in need of job training and employment. During their time at the program, clients are guided through a structured continuum of treatment and training designed to give them the skills they need to address any substance abuse and/or health issues and to find and maintain permanent employment and housing.


You will assist in monitoring this residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment. Be part of a team with a commitment to engaging individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner while performing rounds and addressing the varied needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. You will manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust while understanding each person's unique experience. You will also be responsible for screening residents and visitors at front door, create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports and progress notes. Manage inventory for supplies, maintain fire safety drills and logs, and provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed. Assist with inspections and audits. Escort clients and serve meals as needed. Help maintain an orderly and clean facility. Related duties as assigned. This position is subject to mandatory overtime.


High School diploma or GED required; Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred; effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally; ability to maintain professional boundaries; basic computer literacy required. Bilingual abilities a plus. NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification, CPR Certification and security guard license a plus or a willingness to acquire these certifications/licenses.
