Position Overview


HELP R.O.A.D.S. is a comprehensive, non-residential individual and family safety program providing a variety of services designed to assist in empowering survivors of domestic violence, other crime victims, and their families. As a Domestic Violence Clinician with HELP R.O.A.D.S., you’ll report to the Clinical Director and work with our team located at the Brooklyn Family Justice Center. You’ll provide mental health counseling and therapeutic case management services to children of victims of domestic violence survivors with a goal of helping children and their families achieve safety and long-term stability and addressing the effects of abuse, neglect, and trauma. These services include: individual, family, and group counseling; risk assessment; safety planning; development of individualized parenting plans; advocacy; and other supportive services.


Specific responsibilities will include:

*   Providing mental health services for children and their families including long and short-term counseling and crisis intervention with children, families, and groups.

*   Completing clinical assessments and treatment plans.

*   Demonstrating competence in evidence-based modalities.

*   Developing effective relationships with families.

*   Liaising effectively with other professionals in and out of the Family Justice Center and District Attorney’s office in order to meet the needs of the children and their families.

*   Facilitating appropriate clinical, therapeutic art therapy, and psycho-educational individual and group sessions, including parenting skills support groups.

*   Advocating for and assisting families and individuals in the negotiation of services through ACS, legal guardians, school staff, etc.

*   Completing all appropriate paperwork, including case notes and reports, in a timely manner.

*   Participating in team and agency meetings, individual supervisory meetings, case conferences, and other meetings as requested.

*   Assisting with children’s room coverage as needed to support team in providing services to families seeking
services.


Requirements

*   Master’s Degree in Social Work required, with LMSW preferred.

*   SIFI certified, or eligible to initiate course in September.

*   Minimum of one year relevant work experience providing counseling and supportive services to domestic violence survivors and their families.

*   Knowledge in the modalities of play and art therapy.

*   Experience facilitating support groups and workshops.

*   Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.

*   Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
