Clinical Specialist (Part-time, 21 hours weekly)

Position Objective:
Facilitates the clinical development of youth attending the Bronx ASC. Responsible for conducting individualized clinical assessments and clinical interventions to assist with trauma and behavioral challenges. Provide mental health input working in conjunction with Department of Education Re-Start Program to develop transition plans as well as IEP’S Provide Trauma informed therapeutic services as well as Education. Implements and supports a therapeutic environment by practicing all therapeutic methods in all interactions with participants and their families. Provides supportive brief counseling with youth as they seek to achieve their academic and vocational goals.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
*Will assist ASC staff and Department of Education ReStart Academy staff in identifying mental health and other supportive services.
*Implement and support a therapeutic environment by practicing evidence informed therapeutic methods in all interactions with participants and their families.
*Foster and grow a trauma informed workplace by providing students, staff, and families education surrounding the impact and implications of trauma, including complex trauma.
*Provide evidence-informed information and referral, brief supportive counseling, crisis intervention and suicide prevention support to youth who are in emotional distress.
*Develops Clinical group curriculums as well as facilitate Clinical group 2x per week using evidence based practices. Accurately and efficiently documents all client clinical interactions. Help the ASC staff create service plans that align with the youth’s social emotional development.
*Over see’s BPS and clinical assessments, working with the behavioral team on clinical interventions and helping staff to utilize SMS texting and email to interact with AWOL youth.
*Provides counseling for youth and their families that fosters a supportive collaboration.
*Provides supervision and professional development support to clinical interns working at the Bronx ASC.

Skills
•        Minimum of a Master’s degree in a psychology or counseling field (i.e. LMHC, MSW, MFT) with at least 2 years’ experience providing counseling services to young adults.
