We are currently seeking a Mental Health Specialist for our Westchester Assessment and Referral Program. This program is embedded within the Westchester County Department of Social Services (DSS). Samaritan Daytop Village’s Westchester Assessment and Referral Program addresses the toxic link between child abuse/neglect, parental alcohol and drug addiction and untreated mental health concerns.

In this role you will:

Under general direction, the Mental Health Therapist/Specialist is responsible for providing counseling, group therapy, family therapy and casework services to individuals and families. Additionally, he/she will assess patient’s mental status through interviews and observations and then develops treatment plans or makes referrals to appropriate services.

What qualifications do you need?

Master's degree in Social Work or Mental health Counseling.
NYS LMSW/LMHC licensure for designated programs/divisions OR LMSW-Permit required for designated programs/divisions and must obtain within 90 days of hire and licensure within one year of employment OR MHC-Permit required and must obtain within 90 days of hire.
At least One-Two years demonstrated clinical experience in substance use and/or mental health treatment for designated programs based on needs of the facility.
Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledgeable about federal, state and local law and regulation governing OASAS and OMH programs.
Ability to travel throughout Westchester County via company vehicle to provide mental health services in Client’s home as needed.
Ability to provide services for 5 co-locations (Yonkers, Mount Vernon, White Plains, Peekskill) as needed.
Spanish speaking strongly preferred.
