Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Director for Community Based Services for Counseling and Psychological Services. Reporting to the CAPS Director, the Assistant Director for Community Based Services develops, maintains, evaluates and coordinates mental health related community based consultation and intervention services with a strong foundation in social justice for Rutgers New Brunswick students. The position also involves the provision of mental health services. The Assistant Director supervises a team of Community Based Counselors (meso counselors) and trainees in their community based work. The AD also advises and trains staff, trainees and students on relevant mental health and wellness topics. This position has extensive contact with a variety of faculty and staff across campus.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
• Leads a team of community based counselors (CBC’s) to provide mental health services including evidence based clinical care, outreach and education to students.
• Provides individual and group therapy as well as outreach services.
• Coordinates and consults on postvention efforts with staff, faculty and students in the event of a student death or other tragedy and plans and oversees appropriate postvention activities.
• Manages requests for outreach. Develops and continuously improves administrative processes to maintain efficient operations.
• Resolves operational issues. Gathers, reports and incorporates data for ongoing quality improvement.
• Organizes searches to fill community based counselor vacancies. Participates in evening/weekend/holiday on-call rotation.

• Demonstrated interest in and passion for community based, preventive care in a college health environment.
• Evidence of leadership and team building skills in a mental health environment.
• Interest in collaborating to accomplish common goals to offer effective, efficient services for our students.

• Licensed in New Jersey for independent practice in a mental health field (psychology, clinical social work, professional counseling) or licensed in another state but immediately eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey.
