Description Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ), a behavioral health nonprofit organization that is peer led, seeks Advocate Specialist to work in the mental health crisis unit on the grounds of Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Responsibilities: Responsible for engaging and providing peer support and advocacy to individuals waiting for a psychiatric evaluation. Advocate Specialist is trained in wellness and recovery and in hospital procedures, serving to provide transparent feedback and information to people in the Emergency Department.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year or more of providing peer support. Individuals with lived experience from acute care environment and who are in recovery is highly desirable.
Skills Excellent written and verbal skills, strong assessment skills and organizational skills are a must. Ability to manage crisis; strong computer skills are required. Valid drivers’ license and acceptable driving record required. Wellness and Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) training is preferred. Individuals in recovery are strongly encouraged to apply.
Notes Available Schedules: 10 hours per week // Thurs. & Friday 2 pm - 7 pm
