For over 30 years, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) has been the leader in building transformative programs that raise the standard of care for all victims of child abuse, neglect, and sexual assault in Los Angeles County. Today, VIP functions as a public-private partnership between the publicly-funded VIP Children’s Medical Village at the LAC+USC Medical Center and our non-profit, the VIP Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (VIP-CMHC). Our history of quality mental health care is due in large part to the dedicated and talented employees whose efforts have helped improve the lives of children, transitional age youth, and their families.

Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Manager will perform transactional and strategic duties to support human capitol initiatives at VIP-CMHC. This includes day-to-day and project-based work in benefits, recruitment, benefits, leaves of absence, and payroll.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager will:
•        Manage full-cycle recruitment for all non-exempt and exempt positions
•        Act as a point of contact for VIP CMHC’s benefits broker; manage benefits enrollment, changes, and deletions; audit and reconcile monthly reports and invoices; administer COBRA
•        Prepare timekeeping records and work with the finance department to process bi-weekly payroll
•        Complete leave of absence paperwork and track employee leaves of absence
•        Mange employees’ onboarding and orientation programs
•        Answer questions pertaining to policies, procedures, and employee relations issues, maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and municipal laws
•        Assist the Director of Human Resources in administering leaves of absence and worker’s compensation programs
•        Complete other duties as assigned

•        Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
•        Demonstrated experience working under minimal supervision in the areas described in the essential functions
•        Working knowledge of state and federal labor laws
•        Must have experience with updating and managing HRIS
•        Knowledgeable in payroll policies and procedures
•        Recruiting experience

•        Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in using MS Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook to include graphs, tables, and other spreadsheet functions
•        Excellent grammar, written and verbal communication skills
•        Must be customer service oriented
•        Must be a strong multi-tasker capable of meeting multiple deadlines
•        Possess ability to adapt communication style to successfully convey messages and objectives to diverse audience
•        Flexibility, accountability and professionalism are required
•        Attention to detail and high accuracy are a must
•        Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
•        Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
•        PHR or SHRM-CP certification
