Woodridge Interventions is seeking a Counselor II / Sr. Counselor / Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CADC) to join our team treating adult males within our residential substance abuse treatment program

Residential Substance Abuse Counselors are responsible for:

Providing group therapy to patients in a safe and therapeutic milieu

Facilitating skills and process therapy groups with a substance use focus

Providing information to clients’ community-based substance use supports and other treatment programs in the area (as needed)

Assessing patients on daily basis for safety, ADLs, and mental status

Developing effective therapeutic group relationships that promote positive change in patients

Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other evidenced-based therapies

Communicate with patients’ family members or support system, multiple times per week and as needed

Conducting assessments of patient's substance use and providing clinical recommendations based on this assessment

Engaging in crisis management, as needed

Providing individual therapy and safety checks with safety plan as needed

Creating and implementing new group curriculum, based on current milieu needs and presentation

Communicating and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members on a daily basis to track patient progress and refine treatment goals

Charting in our electronic medical records system

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field preferred (High school diploma or equivalency required)

Minimum 6 months of previous experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling required

Current IL certification as a substance abuse counselor (CADC) or higher licensure (LPC, LSW)

Related work experience with a program specific population (adolescent/adult) in a residential treatment setting required

Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum education
High school diploma or GED and thirty (30) credit hours of college education or accredited training program in substance abuse counseling and/or other human services area.
Higher education given preference
Required certification or license:
IAODAPCA certification CADC (CRADC/MISA I preferred), LSW, LCSW, LPC or LCPC.
Minimum experience required:
No Degree: Five years paid work experience in substance abuse correctional, or other human service counseling position.


Associate Degree: Four years paid work experience in substance abuse, correctional, or other human service counseling position.


Bachelors Degree: Three years paid work experience in substance abuse, correctional, or other human services counseling position.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
