Description
Great way to gain experience working, develop your skills, and educate yourself about the duties, responsibilities, and required skills of working with a diverse population of young people in a non-profit setting. Can be a gateway to your next opportunity. Under the supervision of the Drop In Center Program Manager, the RELIEF Residential Counselors performs the following duties and responsibilities for the Drop-in Center program when covering for open shifts. The RELIEF Residential Counselors is not a full time position, but provides relief/coverage for open shifts at the Drop-in Center – hours are based on availability of open shifts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Engages youth in the Drop-in Center program and serves as an appropriate role model for youth • Flexible work schedule • Ability to work effectively as a team member and within a team-dependent environment. • Regular attendance and punctuality is a requirement of the position • Ensure safety of youth in program • Must be able to communicate effectively, get along with coworkers, clients and management and deal effectively and professionally under pressure • Completes documentation regarding client issues/progress timely and accurately • Attend agency meetings as appropriate • Maintains statistics and records as required – data entry of program statistics • Ensure that DIC site is neat and tidy and report all maintenance or safety issues to manger or Facilities Manager immediately. • Participate in agency Program Quality Improvement activities and initiatives • Participate in agency Safety initiatives and proactively report safety issues to management immediately • Other duties as may be assigned.

Skills
High School diploma or equivalent, BA preferred. Experience working with culturally diverse youth required. Valid CA drivers license with access to a personal vehicle with current Ins. Fingerprinting, TB test & CPR/First Aid required.
