Title: ScanVan Mammography Technologist – Per diem positions Program: Healthcare Department
The ScanVan Mammography Technologist is a licensed Registered Technologist. The person will provide patients with a screening mammography exam in a mobile mammography unit that travels throughout New York City and Long Island. This position reports to the ScanVan Program Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties of the ScanVan Mammography Technologist include but are not limited to the following activities:
Perform routine screening mammography exams.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly, quality control test as outlined in procedure manual and report any equipment malfunctions.
Uploads images to the PACS
Greets patients by confirming patient identification and checking eCW for special instructions
Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures; explaining equipment; answering questions.
Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques.
Maintains production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures; observing mammogram results; determining necessary adjustments for optimum results; retaking mammograms as required and completed studies to radiologist for interpretation.
Ensures operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance; instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories.
Keeps mammography supplies ready by inventorying stock
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures.
Must be available weekends in NYC, Staten Island, or Long Island
Qualifications:
New York License X-ray Technologist,
Must maintain certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or equivalent including but not limited to satisfying the CE requirements for mammography.
Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and engage our clientele, as well as dealing with departmental staff and medical staff while working within ‘close quarters
Present a positive attitude and a professional appearance.
Bilingual Spanish a plus
Must be willing to travel to various locations
