Headquartered in downtown Santa Monica, WISE & Healthy Aging is a non-profit, social services organization that advances the dignity and quality of life of older adults through leadership, advocacy and high-quality, innovative services. The organization is the long-standing administrator of the City & County of Los Angeles Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program and Elder Abuse Prevention Program, the largest Ombudsman Program in the nation. Other major programs include adult day services, including two Adult Day Service Centers (Santa Monica and a partnership with Motion Picture Television Fund in Woodland Hills); senior enrichment programming through its Los Angeles Oasis Program with centers on the Westside and Baldwin Hills; and Care Management/In-Home Services.
WISE & Healthy Aging has 80 employees and an $8 million annual operating budget. In addition to its main office in Santa Monica, there are regional Ombudsman offices in Van Nuys, Pasadena, Montebello, Torrance and Long Beach.
We are seeking a highly-motivated, seasoned human resources professional to join our team as Director of Human Resources. As part of the Executive Management Team, the director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR department. This generalist would be hands-on in working on employee relations matters, management consulting, full-cycle recruitment, workforce planning, compensation and benefits administration, including 401K plan administration, and organizational development. The position reports to the president and CEO.
Partner and consult with leadership team on a variety of employment matters. Strategize with CEO on employee initiatives that support the organization’s human capital and keep it a “Great Place to Work”.
Oversee the organization’s full-cycle recruitment process including the onboarding of new hires.
Supervise HR Generalist to ensure that daily inquiries, employment status changes, payroll processing and benefits reconciliation are executed in a timely and accurate manner.
Oversee the organization’s benefits programs including the open enrollment process, ensuring that plans are compliant, cost effective, and serve the employees accordingly.
Devise compensation salary schedules and review annually for needed updates.
Routinely interact with Benefits Brokers and 401k Plan Advisor to strategize on maximizing benefits and retirement plan enrollments.
Formulate plans to streamline the performance review process. Coach and support managers on performance plan development.
Manage and coordinate Worker’s Comp claims, staying connected with the carrier on Exmod levels and strategies for a safe work place.
Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources or a related field (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR a plus); Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred
Minimum (6) six years of HR Generalist experience, three (3) of which in a HR management capacity
Working knowledge of California and federal labor regulations related to wage and hour, leaves of absences, discrimination, harassment, and other employment areas. Working knowledge of a full service HRIS in the processing of employment information and full-cycle payroll (the organization utilizes Paycom)
