Position Summary: Under the supervision of the social worker supervisor, the Therapist will provide therapeutic services to participants in the A.L.I.V.E (Alternatives to Living in Violent Experiences) Program. A.L.I.V.E is a program offering supportive services to young men of color, adolescents, and families who have been identified as victims or witnesses of a crime. A.L.I.V.E offers services including, but not limited to, therapeutic counseling, case management, assistance with compensation claim filing, assistance in filing police reports, and any other criminal justice collaborations. The A.L.I.V.E Program is part of The Next Generation Center (NGC), a one-stop, multi-service center located in the Morrisania section of the South Bronx, to support disconnected youth and those at-risk of becoming disconnected, as they transition to adulthood.

•Administer standardized screening assessments to identify mental health needs.
•Complete mental health assessments for all participants with positive screening results.
•Engage potential clients and their families and assist with barriers to accessing care.
•Provide trauma-focused individual and group therapy sessions to A.L.I.V.E participants.
•Provide psychoeducation to potential clients as well as the larger NGC community around trauma and its effects.
•Make referrals for psychiatric treatment when indicated.
•Make other referrals as needed.
•Work closely with all service providers in the care and case management of A.L.I.V.E participants.
•Conduct community outreach.
•Attend professional trainings and conferences, as needed.
•Comply with documentation, including progress notes and assessment tools, in a timely manner.
•Keep track of program outcomes and write reports for funding sources.
•Ensure that all clients, visitors, guests, and co-workers are treated with care, dignity, and respect.
•Perform other related duties, as needed.

•Experience or familiarity with trauma assessments.
•Knowledge about trauma and chronic stress and their effects.
•Experience practicing trauma-informed therapy.
•Ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
•Understanding of Restorative Practices a plus.
•Experience using motivational interviewing a plus.
•Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a community environment.
•Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus
