The Training Institute works to prevent child abuse by creating awareness, providing education, and sharing best practices to child welfare professionals, community groups, businesses, schools, parents and students. Core training topics include child abuse and neglect recognition and reporting, child sexual abuse prevention and interventions, understanding trauma, trauma related interventions, managing secondary traumatic stress, and NYSPCC Program Implementation trainings. The Training Institute collaborates closely with The NYSPCC’s Clinical and Research departments.   

Duties: Oversees all department functions such as strategic planning, outreach and engagement, curriculum and material development, staff supervision, training facilitation and evaluation, identifying and fostering partnerships to secure additional training and consultation contracts, developing a sustainable pipeline of training offerings and revenue, spearheading outreach efforts to to appropriate constituencies such as schools, youth serving organizations, child welfare agencies, governmental and nonprofit entities, and corporations. Oversees contracts and ensures work streams and timelines are managed effectively. Oversees requests for training, prepares training proposals and coordinates training sessions with external organizations. This position is a member of the Senior Management Team and will lead and support agency-wide initiatives as directed.

Leads the department’s strategic planning ensuring trainings align with The NYSPCC’s mission as well as allow for sustainable growth. Prepares and meets department income projections. Identifies and fosters new partnerships to secure additional training and consultation contracts, generating new business and revenue. Oversees department operations identifying areas for improvement and implementing organizational systems. Assesses and identifies needs for curriculum development that are mission aligned and supports the department and agency’s strategic plan. Develops training curricula and materials that are informed by evidence-based practices, existing scientific literature and subject matter experts (SME). Provides supervision to members of the Training Institute team supporting professional development and maximizing team efficiencies. Works collaboratively with the Clinical and Research departments in developing and testing/evaluating training materials and curricula. Facilitates trainings on Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, Trauma, and other subjects as appropriate. Oversees all department project timelines and work streams. Prepares proposals for all constituencies requesting training and consultation services. Negotiates and oversees contracts with vendors. Builds and leverages community partnerships to further expand the Training Institute’s reach. Handles scheduling and coordination of training sessions. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and yearly progress reports as needed.

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Teaching, Public Health or equivalent. 10-15 years of relevant experience is required. Experience: Developing/facilitating trainings is strongly desired; Working with families/ individuals with histories of trauma/abuse, an understanding of the complexities of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, the child welfare process, and mental health.

Developing new business partnerships. Strong computer literacy, organizational, communication skills.
Commitment to the principles of diversity, cultural equity and inclusion and demonstrate experience/knowledge of providing services to diverse populations.
