Director of Safe Haven Programs

POSITION SUMMARY:
Covenant House California (CHC) is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee its ‘Safe Haven’ Shelter Housing Program. Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President, the Director of Safe Haven Programs responsible for the direct leadership, supervision and training, and management of the operations of the Safe Haven Shelter consisting of Interim Housing (Shelter and Bridge) and the DMH Emergency Enhanced Shelter Program (EESP). The Director of Safe Haven Programs ensures delivery of services to Shelter youth in accordance with the Covenant House Mission Statement, Five Principles, Code of Conduct and CHC Policies and Procedures and the spirit of relentless engagement. The Director of Safe Haven Programs will supervise the Residential/Assistant Residential Managers, Resident Advisors, Youth Safety Advocates and Case Managers within the shelter, as well as having oversite for the budgets in each of those programs. The position is also responsible for promoting community partnerships, tracking outcomes and ensuring adherence to federal, state, county, city and private funding guidelines.

Skills
EXPERIENCE:                      Minimum of 5 years of experience working with youth. Minimum of 5 years management experience providing residential and community based services. Experience managing multiple government contracts and requirements essential.

SKILLS:                                 Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills and computer skills (Word, Access, Excel, etc.)

Notes
EDUCATION:                        Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or related field preferred, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in homeless services, social services or mental health fields.
