Job Overview
Prototypes, a program of HealthRIGHT 360 (HR360), provides a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use disorder treatment to people in Southern California, with a focus on pregnant/parenting women. Project Enhancing Access to Comprehensive Healthcare (EACH) will improve integration between behavioral and primary health services for our client population by partnering with a local federally qualified health center (FQHC). Prototypes already provides, offer intensive, individualized care coordination to high-need individuals with severe behavioral health issues. The goal of the Prototypes CCBHC expansion is to integrate primary care and behavioral health services for behavioral health clients receiving Outpatient services at Prototypes’ Pomona Women's Campus.

The Education Specialist for the SAMHSA Certified Community Behavioral Health Center Expansion (CCBHC-E) grant is responsible for providing case support and navigating complex educational systems for parents. The Education Specialist will support parents in preparing for Individualized Education Program (IEP)/504 meetings, accompanying parents to IEP/504 meetings and other relevant school meetings, and suggesting services, accommodations, and modifications to meet the families’ needs. The Education Specialist must have “lived” experience with a child who is a current or former recipient of mental health services. Support for families includes outreach, education, training, case management, and forums to engage parents in the community with case navigation, parenting skills, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities
Supports parents in preparing for IEP/504 meetings
Accompanies parents to IEP/504 meetings and other relevant school meetings
Interprets and prioritizes support materials and assists parents in putting requests in writing
Suggests services, programs, accommodations, and modifications to meet students’ individual needs
Provides advocacy for parents to navigate services with institutions that affect families such as schools, health care facilities, or social services
Comfortably shares their own experiences, in appropriate ways, for the benefit of assisting others
Establishes and maintains clear boundaries when working with parents and students
Motivates parents and students to follow their treatment plan and engage in services
Co-facilitates and leads parenting groups
Provides case management services for child/parent/family

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education Requirements:

High school diploma with at least 3 years with experience
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor in Arts in relevant field preferred
Experience Required:

Must have a child who is a current or former recipient of mental health services
Desired:

Experience working with perinatal women
Experience navigating DCFS and IEP/504 systems
Background Clearance Required:

Live Scan fingerprint clearance
Must not be on parole or probation for a minimum of two years
Skills and Abilities Required:

Clear understanding of appropriate boundary dynamics
Exceptional English reading/writing skills
Bilingual in Spanish
