We are actively recruiting a part time Psychiatrist who will be an Independent Contractor and will primarily work with Transition Age Youth (16-24) and young adults (up to age 30) engaged in Behavioral Health Services in a dynamic service environment. Services are provided to MediCal beneficiaries and those who qualify for Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding. Services are provided on site and are clinic based. The Behavioral Health services are provided in a team-based approach. Mental Health clinical care and crisis management is provided directly by clinicians who design the primary treatment plan and define the service needs in collaboration with our clients. Psychiatric services are provided as an integral part of our service delivery model. Our psychiatrist & clinicians work in partnership to provide a comprehensive service delivery model. Our wellness model includes the involvement of Peer Mentor staff who assist the team in truly meeting our clients ‘where they are at’; focused on a strengths and asset-building model.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assumes responsibility for those acts of diagnosis, treatment, prescribing of medication which are directly performed as licensed physician
•Works in partnership with clinician’s to meet clinical needs of clients to include: clinical consultation, diagnostic and medication training for staff, other training activities as needed. Follows all Medicaid/MediCal and Santa Clara County Behavioral Health regulations and directives.
•Communicates with support staff to manage scheduling of clients, follow up on lab, and prescription needs, appropriate communication with treatment team and follow up for medication prescribed, ensuring consents for treatment and/or JV220s are completed and up to date.
•Utilizes standards of prescribing medication as approved through Santa Clara County Behavioral Health and completes all required documentation including TARS.
•Psychiatric record keeping in Electronic Health Record system in a timely and comprehensive manner within Medicaid/MediCal regulations and directives.
•Provide comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation, physician’s orders documentation, and progress notes as well as other documentation standards as needed.
•Maintain compliance in all areas of practice. Follow all state and County Department of Behavioral Health regulations and requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
M.D. Psychiatry required. Knowledge and experience working with dual diagnosed clients required. Knowledge of needs of chronic mental health issues, runaway, homeless and street youth preferred. Bi-lingual Spanish speaking encouraged to apply. Fingerprinting/background check as required by the Department of Justice and/or Title XXII regulations. TB test required. Current CPR and First Aid Certification required (or complete within 30 days of hire). Must have current liability and malpractice insurance to cover work at BWC. Must have possession of current driver’s license, access to a vehicle and personal automobile insurance.
