This position is responsible for providing leadership, training, and direct supervision to the Employment Specialists, ensuring business relationships are developed and networking occurs along with job development, and that Individual Plans of Employment (IPEs) are scheduled and developed with persons enrolled in accordance with DRS and Sertoma standards. This position also functions as an Employment Specialist and is responsible for the development, implementation, facilitation, and service coordination of Employment Services for assigned individuals, ensuring integration of services through a coordinated team effort including the involvement of the individual, family, funding representative and other involved persons, including agency staff and referral sources. This position assists consumers with severe mental illnesses with finding and keeping competitive and/or supported employment that is consistent with their vocational goals.
This position is also responsible for promoting a recovery-oriented environment that reflects the needs of the individuals served, the staff providing services, and the mission of the organization. In addition, this position fulfills needed functions on the team.
Mental health services are delivered both at the facility and off-site in community settings, with individual consumers or groups of consumers, assisting consumers to achieve personal recovery goals. Staff utilize Sertoma vehicles, PACE vehicles, or their privately owned vehicles to provide services in community settings.
Utilize a team approach for hiring with consideration to factors of: skills, knowledge, integrity, capacity to learn, conflict resolution and motivation for working in the field, along with the recognition of the need to complement the existing team.
Provide administrative and clinical direction, training, support, and supervision to Employment Specialists, developing and enhancing their capacity to support consumers both on and off the job while developing relationships with employers. Conduct quality assurance of records of persons served, ensuring all documentation meets standards of licensing, accreditation bodies, and Sertoma policy.
In collaboration with the Job Developer, ensure that Employment Specialists actively seek employment opportunities for individuals enrolled in Employment Services through job development and job search activities directed toward interests of individuals, meeting individuals in community settings, while educating and consulting with employers on issues of disabilities and accommodations.
Engage consumers in developing vocational goals through establishing a trusting and collaborative relationship, taking into account long-term employment goals, work history, strengths and culture, justice involvement, and any other factors; completing a career profile for each consumer.
Develop and update quarterly individual employment plans with consumers and input from Mental Health Team, other treatment providers, and families, as applicable.
Stay abreast of community employment trends, public policy, and issues affecting individuals with disabilities (e.g., ADA, Social Security, health benefits, accommodations, etc.). Provide benefit counseling to consumers by advising how earned income will affect their benefits along with availability of work incentives.
