The Child Behavioral Health Specialist position is designed to strengthen the Childrens System of Care and to provide Division of Child Protection and Permanency staff with expertise and guidance on issues of behavioral health that would inform the case planning so as to effectively improve the overall well-being of youth and families.
This is a unique position in that you will split your time between the two DCP&P offices located in Bergen County while spending, on average, one day a week at our office in Hackensack.
Bergen's Promise is the designated Care Management Organization (CMO) for Bergen County, New Jersey that serves youth ages 5 to 21 with serious behavioral health challenges, substance abuse issues and developmental disabilities. Youth with chronic co-occurring behavioral and specific medical health issues will also be served through an enhanced medical care coordination component. The goal of this additional support is the joint coordination of wellness promotion with behavioral health care management.
•        Provides clinical consultations regarding youth/families with behavioral health needs, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or substance use issues, who may solely be involved with DCP&P or dually involved with Bergens Promise and DCP&P.
•        Reviews applicable records that will allow the consultant to identify significant events, patterns or interactions that will form the treatment plan and subsequent recommendations.
•        Clarify diagnosis and/or evaluations in order for CMO Care Manager or DCP&P Case Worker to gain understanding of the youths behaviors, and how his or her recommendations are tailored to address them. May also support the DCP&P case worker to craft specific referral questions that the evaluation should answer.
•        Keeps occurrence tracking of DCP&P consultation referrals and coordinates with case practice specialists and local office managers, ensuring DCP&P staff is utilizing consultation.
•        Train system partners and families on the Childrens System of Care available supports and services and wraparound/child and family team process.
•        Promote and facilitate usage of BergenResourceNet to system partners and families for resources in local community.
•        Participates in related meetings including but not limited to: Focus On Supervision, staff meetings, Child Family Team meetings, clinical specialist trainings or other trainings as necessary.
•        Consults with other child family team members as needed relevant to a youths total treatment plan (including but not limited to treatment/health providers and educational staff).
•        Coordinating regular collaboration meetings and ensuring communication between CMO & DCP&P for shared youth, informing Directors of both positive outcome stories and challenges between the two entities.

Masters Degree in a related field (such as Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology)
Maintenance of full license in appropriate discipline (LPC, LCSW or LMFT) required.
Three years experience providing direct clinical service to youth and families.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Experience with substance use and attachment disorders a plus.
