BronxWorks is seeking an Operations Coordinator for its Jerome Avenue Men’s Shelter (a 200-bed men’s mental health shelter that operates as part of the NYC Department of Homeless Services system). This position will be responsible for supervising and managing the operations of the facility, including liaising with contracted maintenance, working to quickly cure any building violations received, and monitoring vendors performing work onsite. The Operations Coordinator will also oversee and supervise Program Assistant staff in duties such as maintenance of client property storage, census and bed management, and linen and supply distribution. The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for conducting regular building walk-through's and submitting and monitoring completion of work orders to keep building in good working order.

Two years’ experience in a related field is required and supervisory experience is preferred. Experience supervising operations in a 24-hour facility is required. Familiarity with (or demonstrated ability to develop proficiency in) OSHA, DOHMH, FDNY, DHS, OTDA, and Callahan Consent Decree requirements and procedures is required. The Operations Coordinator should have strong written and oral communications skills, good organizational skills, and proficiency in programs such as Excel (familiarity with DHS’ databases, including CARES and BCS, is preferred). Bilingual Spanish is preferred, but not required. The position requires 24/7 on-call responsibilities in case of operations emergency. Base schedule is Monday-Friday 8 AM-4 PM, but weekend and overnight hours will be required at times to ensure proper supervision of 24-hour facility.
