The Manhattan Outreach Consortium (MOC) is a partnership of three agencies, the Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS), Breaking Ground and Goddard Riverside. CUCS is the lead agency of MOC and also provides psychiatric and medical services through its affiliate, Janian Medical Care, staff training, and IT support for all of the MOC programs. MOC is an innovative street outreach and housing placement program for people who are street homeless in Manhattan. MOC utilizes a housing first and harm reduction philosophy to assist street homeless individuals in moving off the streets and into sustainable housing.

We know that each individual’s path out of homelessness is as unique as the circumstances that led them there. The Community Affairs Coordinator will be able to appropriately share MOC's work in moving people off the streets, with the pubic that sees them every day. The Coordinator will manage the deployment of new outreach staff and communication between the Consortium, the Department of Homeless Services, and the larger public in Manhattan.

The Community Affairs Coordinator will interact with city agencies, political constituencies, and community partners to hear and respond to concerns of the community, and speak to the work of the MOC. As well as understand the patterns of homelessness across Manhattan including locations where street homeless individuals tend to congregate.

MOC is seeking applicants for a Community Affairs Coordinator. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Ability to build relationships and engage a wide variety of people and agencies including clients, community members, city agency staff, and elected officials.
Skilled in navigating complex political environments and recognizing how to best serve each concerned entity.
Belief that housing is a human right and demonstrating a commitment to the Housing First model.
Prepared to address audiences of all sizes through public speaking with the ability to compel to action and share information.
Team oriented individual also capable of working independently.
Proficient in managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

LMSW, with proven experience practicing strong clinical judgement.
Valid driver’s license preferred.
History of assisting vulnerable populations & individuals battling substance use and/or mental illness.
Knowledgeable in the complexities of homeless services in NYC.
Experience with media/public relations.
Familiarity with NYC government.
Flexibility to provide 24-hour on call support as needed.
