The Health & Wellness Educator I will assist in developing and providing pertinent nutrition, health and wellness workshops in the community. The Health & Wellness Educator I will adhere to all administrative tasks, data collection and comply with contractual obligations. This work will be completed within the Catholic Charities frame of an integrated programming philosophy of family centered, strength-focused, and client empowerment centered practice.
-Facilitate workshops empowering participants to maximize their level of health and wellness to live long, full, and healthy, vibrant lives. The pursuit of health, personal growth, and improved quality of life relies on living a balanced life. To achieve balance, we need to care for our mind, body, and spirit.
-Schedule resources needed for delivery of workshops. This includes locations, materials, refreshments, etc.
-Conduct workshops in accordance with curriculum.
-Ensure workshops run seamlessly by helping to guide and direct participants, “vendors”, and volunteers during activities to ensure that all goals are met in an effective way.
-Connect participants to appropriate resources as needed.
-Advertise and market events including going out to sites ahead of time to market event in neighborhood including hanging signage and banners at location and in local store fronts, libraries etc.
-Set up and clean-up of workshop sites.
-Create a warm, accepting and informal atmosphere which provides support, trust, and safety; and to involve all individuals in the group process, thus creating an environment of inclusion and equal participation.
-Develop internal and external linkages while engaging in community building activities and promoting program services through outreach initiatives. Utilize these connections to improve quality of workshops
-Meet regularly with Associate Director of Health & Wellness Services for supervision and on as needed basis to review and discuss Project plans and updates on workshop operations and processes; records and issues relating to the funding source.
-Provide summary reports and photographs for each workshop or workshop series for marketing and promotional purposes
-In conjunction with the Workshop Team, think creatively to develop, design, and plan new curriculum, ideas for families, parents and young children workshops.
-Assist in food pantry and community events conducted by Community Program Services and Office of Mission.
-Work in collaboration with Senior Director of Community Programming, Health and Wellness Educator Team, Food Pantry Resource Team & Directors of Parish Relations and Office of Mission staff in implementing and facilitating events and workshops in response to emerging community needs.
-Other duties as assigned.
-Bachelor’s degree in Human Service, Nutrition and Wellness, Group Dynamics or related field
-Valid driver's license, proof of department of motor vehicles driving history, 3 years of current driving experience with no more than one moving violation in the previous 24 months (2 years), and no driving while intoxicated convictions
