The Nonprofit Bookkeeper is responsible for implementing and maintaining the organization’s accounting system. The bookkeeper is responsible for day – to – day accounting, such as journal entries, processing invoices, bank account reconciliations and bank deposits. The bookkeeper also keeps records of assets and liabilities and assists with preparation of financial statements and reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reconcile General ledger accounts in Quickbooks Online
Perform basic accounting procedures such as:
o Accounts receivable/Accounts payable
o Payroll processing and time keeping
o General ledgers
o Tax payments
o Inventory Control
o Counting program units / rate rationalization
o Managing petty cash and program budgets
o Medicaid/Managed care billing
Providing information for financial statements such as:
o Monthly and quarterly financial reports
o Monthly forecast summarizing current and projected financial position
o Collecting data needed for annual financial audits and OPWDD Consolidated Financial Reports (CFR)
Maintain OMIG regulatory compliance
Communicating with vendors, clients and staff to address financial discrepancies
Maintain ongoing communication with outside financial affiliates to ensure agency’s financial stability.
Perform other accounting assistance and related duties as required.
•1-3 years previous nonprofit accounting experience
•Technical proficiency, including use of accounting software (Quickbooks Online mandatory) and web-based applications.
•Strong customer services skill and attention to detail.
•Excellent verbal, listening, analytical and written communications skills
•Must have ability to work independently and be a team player
•Computer literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
