Part time hourly position with a pay range $20.46/hr - $27.62/hr

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Social Worker (SW) for Holts Korea & Mongolia Program applies a clinical social work lens to the management of child and family case-related processes, enabling Holt services to reflect the highest standards of social work practice. The SW works with the Director of Adoption-Korea & Mongolia to ensure program objectives are met, provide support to other team members, and assists with overseas administrative systems. The SW has expertise in social work and clinical adoption issues, knowledge about child development and childhood medical conditions. The position requires the ability to develop, implement and maintain systems that ensure program accountability while upholding Holts high adoption standards. SW Korea & Mongolia assists Director of Adoption-Korea & Mongolia in conducting preliminary assessments of prospective adoptive parents strengths and factors affecting eligibility or suitability for Holts Korea & Mongolia programs, from time of intake and through post placement. The SW also provides preparation resources and support to families adopting children with special placement needs, to promote the successful adjustment of child and family.

1. Assures intake of applicants that can successfully complete adoption by assessing applicants program eligibility for Korea or Mongolia, compliance with USCIS requirements, and other issues that are barriers to placement of a child. Uses social work judgment, clinical assessment skills and knowledge of adoption process to evaluate complicated eligibility and case-related issues throughout the adoption process and post-placement.

2. Ensures children are placed in a nurturing family by reviewing and approving home studies and providing consultation to staff and families regarding home study and USCIS processing. Discussing and evaluating cases with Director of Adoption Korea & Mongolia, Holt Branch offices, cooperating agencies and with international staff as appropriate. Ensures flow of case information between all parties involved in the adoption process.

KNOWLEDGE:

Masters Degree in Social Work or related field, with three years of experience in a social service setting, preferably one with a child welfare focus. Requires the application of clinical skills and knowledge to determine the appropriateness of an adoptive placement of a child and whether that placement is in the best interests of the child. Must have proven clinical and assessment skills and experience in adoption services and processes. Knowledge of and experience with adoption procedures, child development, family dynamics, and clinical adoption issues. Clinical experience and skills working with individuals and families. Cross cultural sensitivity. Note: Required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of training every two years on current and emerging adoption practice issues.
