Position Summary: The Family Wellness Program provides comprehensive trauma-informed services to families who are affected by intimate partner violence. Our goal is help those who have experienced physical, emotional or other forms of abuse to establish long-term safety and heal from the effects of trauma. We are seeking a full-time master’s level mental health professional to serve as a therapist and provide direct clinical and advocacy services to survivors of intimate partner violence as well as children and teen clients exposed to domestic violence. The therapist will report directly to the Assistant Director for Domestic Violence Clinical Services. The position is funded through The New York DA office (DANY) Criminal Justice Investment Initiative (CJII) to assist underserved communities in accessing services tailored to their needs as well as help survivors of crime attain justice, heal from trauma, and rebuild their lives.

Responsibilities:
•Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and short-term supportive counseling to survivors of intimate partner violence
•Conduct comprehensive assessment, including risk of lethality assessment and trauma screening assessment tools, for survivors of intimate partner violence
•Conduct comprehensive assessment, including trauma screening assessment tools, for children and teen who have witnessed intimate partner violence
•Identify and develop short-term and long-term counseling goals
•Provide trauma-informed individual and family therapy to survivors of intimate partner violence, children and teens exposed to intimate partner violence, and teens who have experienced abuse in their own dating relationships; engage clients who are also survivors of forms of violence in trauma counseling
•Coordination of 14-week trauma-informed counseling and psycho-educational group for survivors of intimate partner violence and evidence-based counseling group for children exposed to intimate partner violence, offered at least twice a year, including all logistical preparation and planning, securing group facilitators and child care staff, and coordination of client assessments;
•Co-facilitation of the 14-week survivors group and children’s group and submit weekly group reports
•Provide case management, advocacy and referral services within the legal, housing, public benefits and child welfare systems as needed
•Assist clients in completing applications and filing claims for the New York State Office of Victim Services compensation
•Conduct community outreach to other community based organizations to develop referral relationships, including program presentations and informal workshops
•Provide training and consultation as needed to other service providers on topics related to best practice when working with families affected by domestic violence
•Maintain compliance with timely reporting and detailed tracking of services provided to clients
•Maintain comprehensive case files and all relevant information for internal and external review and audit purposes
•Collaborate with other Family Wellness Program team members and other service providers internally and externally as needed
•Attend all relevant Children’s Aid and Family Wellness Program meetings and peer supervision
•Participates in weekly supervision

Qualifications:

Required:
•Bilingual Spanish/English fluency;
•Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology or equivalent degree with licensure or on track for licensure; required
