Description
CUCS is seeking a Development Associate for its Development and Communications Department. In collaboration with the Director of Development and Communications and the Associate Director of Development, the position will manage and grow the organization’s volunteer program provide critical support for CUCS’s individual and institutional fundraising initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify needs of organization that could be fulfilled through group volunteer projects and develop meaningful group volunteer projects. Maintain and expand recruitment strategy for new volunteer groups and the stewardship of volunteers into CUCS donors.
Coordinate with program staff and others to develop, schedule and oversee volunteer opportunities. Coordinate and document background checks and security clearances when applicable.
Serve as volunteers’ point of contact for all projects. Provide volunteers with support and guidance, foster a positive environment, establish and maintain strong relationships, encourage volunteer motivation, facilitate on-going connection to CUCS's mission. Act as a liaison between CUCS staff and volunteers.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of volunteer policies and procedures. Maintain and update volunteer manual. Assist with evaluating the volunteer program on an on-going basis, identify gaps, recommend and implement changes, as appropriate.
Organize/coordinate volunteers to staff special events and fundraisers.
Provide support for the corporate cause-marketing and sponsorship program with a focus on converting corporate volunteers into institutional donors.
Provide support for institutional and individual giving campaigns, including special events, grant writing, and individual solicitations. Assist with administrative and logistical tasks that support fundraising initiatives.
Support Development team with donor communications: prepare timely acknowledgment letters and other related correspondence.
Maintain necessary electronic and print records, files, reports, databases and resource materials as needed. Provide management assistance in general and develop and provide on-going oversight of volunteers in Salesforce database.
Maintain confidentiality of all donor-related information.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills
Minimum of 1-3 years fundraising or relevant nonprofit experience. Volunteer management experience a plus.
Must possess strong skills in fundraising, relationship building, and customer service.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines.
