BRC is among the most comprehensive, effective, and fastest growing agencies in NYC serving homeless New Yorkers.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, and working closely with BRC's CEO and President, the Director of Communications will be responsible for implementing a new and effective strategy to raise awareness of BRC, creating and disseminating content through various portals, events and relationships. Duties and responsibilities will include:
Generate content and manage communications for annual and special fundraising campaigns, including direct mail and other solicitations.
Manage and distribute quarterly e-newsletter and other email campaigns for the organization. Tasks include: writing press releases and website content, designing email layouts and managing email lists.
Manage media relations and maximize media opportunities. Arranges interviews for organizational representatives including staff and persons served.
Compiles all media articles for the "media file" and maintains archived communication and PR materials (newsletter, brochures, etc.) and photographs, including photo releases.
Strengthen and expand the organization's social media presence, including the use of advertising channels.
Provide support to BRC Chief Executive Officer and Chief Development Officer as directed with follow-up tasks across the spectrum of internal and external project assignments.
Assist in the development of BRC's brand guidelines and language. Be the official brand ambassador for BRC to educate and reinforce the organizations' brand and voice.
Ensure all print and electronic communication tools and vehicles support the organization's strategic initiatives and maintain the BRC brand.
Participate in the development and production of all BRC publications and collateral. Identify new opportunities to increase supporter-base through communications.
Work cross-collaboratively with BRC funders and partners on various communications and fundraising projects.
Monitor, track and analyze the effectiveness of communication activities and provide data-driven strategies and tactics.

2+ years of experience in public relations, communications, community outreach or related work, ideally with experience in an "in-house" role within a complex nonprofit entity, covering areas such as website content, newsletters, social media and donor communications.
Superior writing skills, to include content generation and the ability to edit materials prepared by others to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Ability to prioritize tasks, and work accurately under the pressure of a deadline-focused job.

Proficient in AP writing style, traditional and emerging trends in public relations, advertising, marketing and social media.
Graphic design experience a tremendous plus.
Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred)
