The Director, Client Advocacy, is responsible for all grant deliverables and program quality assurance for client advocacy services at GMHC. The Director is responsible for ensuring timely and effective client advocacy services in the areas of insurance, health care access, and benefits. The Director, Client Advocacy will oversee several programs including but not limited to the AIDS Institute Funded ADAP Minority AIDS Initiative Program and the NYSDOH Health Navigator Program, as well as funding from private funders and foundations.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are mandatory requirements of the job:
- Provides client advocacy services in the areas of insurance, health care access, and benefits
- Ensures that all grant deliverables are completed and documented
- Prepares timely and accurate reports, internal as well as external
- Documents deliverables and services in applicable databases
- Maintains and supports appropriate outside partnerships for the agency, especially in the area of client advocacy
- Trains both staff and outside partners in the areas of insurance, health care access, and benefits
- Endeavors to assure client and community satisfaction with advocacy services and addresses grievances that may occur with the assistance of supervisors
- Assists with such special projects as may be assigned by the Senior Vice President
- Adheres to workplace policies and procedures, including confidentiality, documentation, channels of communication, workplace culture, dress code, and conflict resolution
- Implement and utilize the Triad Management model for program and staff management
- Conduct continuous quality improvement processes to improve services and client care
- Provide direct supervision to direct reports in a manner that is supportive and affirming
- Attend required onsite meetings including, but not limited to all staff meeting, team meeting, and management team meeting
- Develop relationships with community providers to ensure clients have access to needed services
- Develop policies and procedures to ensure programs are in compliance with funder requirements

- Extensive knowledge of the challenges and opportunities presented to PLWHA
- Have 3+ years experience with governmental benefits such as HASA, Public Assistance & Social Security; and health insurance, life insurance and access to affordable health care
- Excellent written/verbal/interpersonal communication skills

- Adaptable to changing priorities & deadlines
- Self-starter that can function at a high level with minimal supervision
- Attention to detail is a must
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using AIDS Institute Reporting System (AIRS) and ADAP
