Urban Resource Institute is seeking a self-starter fundraiser to serve as its Director of Development to help take us to the next level. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Development is a generalist that that will co-lead the strategic direction, implementation, and management of the organization’s fundraising efforts. The core responsibilities of the Director of Development include executing strategies to diversify and grow the organization’s portfolios consisting of capital campaigns, individual giving, special events, and institutional giving. She/He/They will serve as a key member of a small but nimble Development team.
•Co-lead URI’s capital and naming campaigns to raise $10-M by the end of 2020
•Develop and refine comprehensive Individual and Major Giving strategies in alignment with URI’s organizational vision and goals
•Cultivate, steward and close gifts from new and existing individual donors
•Maintain ongoing communications with private and corporate donors
•Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders
•Collaborate with staff on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions
•Develop print marketing collateral related to fundraising in collaboration with our Marketing and Communications department
•Collaborate with all departments, including Programs, Finance, Operations, and Marketing & Communications to obtain accurate and progress updates required for communication with stakeholders
•Lead the annual URI Celebration Gala to raise $500,000 annually
•Support Institutional Giving with renewals of existing funders, and solicitation of new prospects
•Other duties as requested based on department, program and/or organizational needs.

•Passion for Urban Resource Institute’s mission and core values
•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications or related field
•Minimum of 8 years in a fundraising/Development, Major Gifts, and/or Special Events role
•Currently managing an Individual Giving and/or Major Giving portfolio valued at $500,000 or greater
•Currently managing large fundraising events with revenue of $500,000 or greater
•Experience in writing compelling proposals to secure funding from corporations and foundations
•Exceptional relationship building and influencing skills
•Experience with meeting or exceeding ambitious capital campaign goals
•Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of audiences
•A high degree of cultural competence and belief in the value of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences
•Experience with Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge
•Sense of humor.
