The Overnight Residential Counselor supports the Mission and Values of Boys Hope Girls Hope. The Overnight Residential Counselor is responsible for directing the operations of the home to create a family atmosphere that supports the development of the full child. The Overnight Residential Counselor is part of a team of professionals and volunteers. They perform their duties relatively free from direct supervision, acting at all times in a professional manner.
Major Areas of Responsibilities
1) Child Development and Health
a. Know and follow Boys Hope Girls Hope program policies and procedures regarding the care and development of scholars
b. Assume responsibility for scholars in residence on the overnight shift, including nightly decisions regarding health, safety, and discipline
c. Conduct 30 minute bed checks and document on the ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬Overnight Log
d. Responsible for physical, emotional, social, spiritual, development of scholars living in home in accordance with Girls Hope program policies.
2) Household Management
a. Assure that home functions in accordance with Girls Hope program and local licensing standards
b. Maintain the home in a clean and safe condition, providing for nutritional and physical needs of scholars
c. Complete household tasks such as light housekeeping, meal prep, home laundry, scholar room checks
d. Monitor the physical environment and report needed repairs in a timely manner.
3) Administrative and Record Keeping
a. Maintain scholar and program files in accordance with licensing and Boys Hope Girls Hope standards
b. Enter daily information into the Program Participant Management Portal (PPM)
c. Run reports from the PPM for Primary Residential Counselors for service planning purposes
d. Complete the overnight task sheet and submit to Director of Residential Programs
