Youth Homes seeks a visionary, forward-thinking leader with an entrepreneurial spirit to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer. Youth Homes is a nonprofit organization and the oldest continually operating children’s residential treatment program in Contra Costa County (San Francisco Bay area), founded more than half a century ago by compassionate citizens who were concerned that troubled youth were routinely consigned to the criminal justice system. Over the years, Youth Homes has evolved to meet the changing needs of children and families it serves, expanding its continuum of care to include fully integrated post-residential treatment support. It provides an array of services to help children transition through the different phases of their experience in the foster care system or prevent them from entering it. For more information on Youth Homes and its programs, please visit

Under the guidance and direction of the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the vision and strategic direction of Youth Homes, the oversight and positive outcomes of all programs, services and activities, as well as the fiscal health, structural soundness and philanthropic growth of the organization. The CEO will oversee an annual budget of approximately $9 million and a total of 110-115 staff. Ideally, candidates will have a minimum of ten years of leadership experience in the development of human service programs, administration of grant and contact funded programs, and fund development. The successful candidate should have a general knowledge of the regulations governing child welfare and mental health agencies. Experience working with county and state funding agencies would be beneficial. While experience in California is preferred, candidates with appropriate experience in other states are also encouraged to apply. A Bachelor’s degree is required. An emphasis in business, nonprofit leadership social work, psychology or criminal justice is a plus.
