This position will conduct screenings to determine eligibility for services over the phone to those seeking services with Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services. Based out of our Sepulveda location, the Intake Counselor provides intake support to Adult and Child & Family programs. Individuals with experience working with this population are strongly encouraged to apply. The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Essential Functions
Answering incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.
Following established call handling protocols, collect information regarding the case to determine eligibility and determine insurance coverage.
Scheduling the intake assessment appointments for clients, in accordance with established Agency protocols and procedures.
Coordinate benefits (primary/secondary coverage).
Identify share of cost amount and notify client of his/her insurance benefits and share of cost amount as applicable.
Educate Out-of-pocket clients on possible payment options (including fee schedule, payment plans etc.)
Document coverage and benefits information on PsychConsult.
Check IS to identify case status.
Schedule new intake registrations with support staff performing registrations in PsychConsult and complete corresponding screening paperwork.
Complete Call Center and Contacts-To-Do screens in PsychConsult.
Enter data in SRTS system correctly and in a timely manner.
Maintain VANS system.
Delivering effective crisis intervention for all populations dealing with mental health issues and/or substance use, as needed.
Interfacing with State and City agencies such as the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Public Health, as well as criminal justice services, social workers, to give and receive information relative to services.
Develops and maintains counselor skills through seminars, workshops, or other forms of training/education.
Attends and actively participate in all team and staff meetings, supervision and consultation.
Engaging in continuous quality improvement efforts.
Supporting the Drug Medi-Cal Program.
Handling walk-in clients.
Handling referrals.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required, in a related field and 1-2 years' experience working with individuals with a history of mental illness in a social service/mental health environment.
Customer service exsperience in a healthcare setting, prefferably mental health is highly desired.
Ability to provide services in both English and Armenian or Spanish.
