Great opportunity for college students studying Finance or related fields to obtain training and experience in the following areas:

Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable/Reconciliations

Manage Accounts Payable in SAP Concur

Import AP data from SAP Concur to our Financial software in Blackbaud Financial Edge

Manage and respond to inquiries from vendors

Process, track and record DCFS billing, prepare, make and record deposits, and monitor the accounts receivable aging report by following up with DCFS to ensure timely receipt of payments.

Import contributions revenue and grant revenue from our donor database, Blackbaud Raisers Edge into Financial Edge.

Conduct monthly bank (checking, savings, and credit card) and balance sheet account reconciliations

Monthly Allocations

Allocate direct costs and expenses to appropriate cost centers

Allocate monthly indirect costs to program and grant cost centers

Allocate shared costs (rent, supplies, etc.) to program cost centers

Foster Parent Home Accounts

Work with Business Managers at each site to ensure timely reporting on home budgets

Import costs derived from Home Accounts into Financial Edge

Audit preparation

Assist with outside accounting firm to prepare for the audit, including fixed asset/depreciation schedule, vacation accruals, payroll reconciliations, and provide auditor with records as requested for testing

Work with Human Resources to process payroll via 3rd party payroll vendor.

Import payroll data into Accounting software, Financial Edge

Review expense reports and submit with payroll

Other duties as assigned

Training will be provided


Knowledge and experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge, SAP Concur is a plus and Excel preferred

Knowledge of non-profit finance and accounting practices, including government contracts, grants management and financial reporting

Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with — programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds

Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

A multitasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment

Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and customer service are important
