Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ), a peer led not-for-profit organization, seeks Advocate Specialist for Part-time positions based in Piscataway, NJ. The position is for 15 hours per week. The Advocate Specialist is based out of the psychiatric screening unit of the UBHC hospital located in Piscataway, NJ. Responsibilities: Engages and provides peer support and advocacy to individuals waiting for a psychiatric evaluation. Advocate Specialist is trained in wellness and recovery and in hospital procedures, serving to provide transparent feedback and information to people in the Emergency Department.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year or more of providing peer support. Individuals with lived experience from acute care environment and who are in recovery is highly desirable. Excellent written and verbal skills, strong assessment skills and organizational skills are a must. Ability to manage crisis; strong computer skills are required. Valid drivers’ license and acceptable driving record required. Wellness and Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) training is preferred. Individuals in recovery are strongly encouraged to apply.
