Position Summary Under the direction of the Social Work Supervisor for the Youth Empowerment Programs, the Clinical Therapist will screen and assess youth who are involved in the Juvenile Justice system. The Clinical Therapist will then make any referrals needed for the youth and provide individual and group therapy sessions. These functions are performed under general supervision, necessitating the ability to exercise independent and sound judgment. This position requires travel between multiple sites and flexibility in schedule.
•Administer standardized screening assessments to identify mental health needs.
•Complete Mental Health Assessments for all youth with positive screening results.
•Engage the family and assist with barriers to access care.
•Make referrals for Psychiatric treatment when indicated and if client is in agreement.
•Make other referrals as needed.
•Follow up to ensure that the youth are attending their appointments.
•Work closely with all service providers involved in the care and case management for the court involved youth.
•Attend conferences, as needed.
•Comply with documentation including, progress notes and assessment tools.
•Keep track of program outcomes and write reports to funding sources.
•Ensures that all patients, visitors, guests, as well as co-workers, receive personalized, prompt attention and are treated with receptiveness, dignity and respect, no matter how limited the contact.
•Performs other related duties, as required.
•LCAT or LMSW required.
•Experience working with court involved youth and knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System.
•Experience running groups required.
•Ability to travel to multiple sites as needed.
•Experience and or familiarity with Trauma Assessments.
•Ability to work effectively with families, professionals and other personnel from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
•Knowledgeable about trauma and violence and the effects it has on children and families.
•Understanding of Restorative Practices a plus
•Experience using Motivational interviewing a plus.
•Ability to collaborate with colleagues and support in community environment.
