The Employment Specialist (ES) provides vocational assessment, employment preparations, job development and job placement services to IPS or Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) eligible clients. The Employment Specialist participates in activities to educate, recruit and support clients and employers. The Employment Specialist serves as an employment liaison between clients, employers, and community partners. The Employment Specialist assists the consumer by providing a variety of supportive and employment related services, some of which may include mentoring, coaching, transportation or other services that address the clients’ readiness to work. The Employment Specialist supports program adherence to the DOR/DMH contract.
The Employment Specialist (ES) needs to be a self-starter and able to work independently. The ES needs to have flexibility and excellent organizational skills. The ES needs to be able to operate from a strengths based perspective.
•Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred in psychology, social work, administration or related field, together with at least six (6) months related direct client care or supported employment experience.
•or Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in non-related field, together with at least one (1) year related direct client care or supported employment experience.
•or less than a college degree and two (2) years related direct client care or supported employment experience.
•Bilingual Spanish Preferred
--Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company; have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours.
