Under the supervision of the Extraordinary Families Director, the UP4Youth Program Specialist works within a team-oriented and fast-paced work environment. As an integral member of the UP4Youth program team, this position plays a direct role in supporting and empowering youth aged 16 and above who are currently or have been in foster care as they transition into adulthood. The UP4Youth Program Specialist provides ongoing case management, resource coordination, and emotional support to the youth, working with them to develop an Individualized Service Plan (ISP). In addition to individualized support, the specialist manages our youth and mentor support groups, matches youth with adult mentors, promotes events and workshops, and provides the youth with employment coaching.

Works with community-based organizations and government entities to recruit eligible youth aged 16+ to participate in the UP4Youth program.
Enrolls eligible youth into the program. Provides orientations and completes ISPs and related documents upon enrollment.
Provides ongoing case management to UP4Youth participants. Manages ISPs and related documents, checking in regularly with youth on their progress toward self-identified goals and connecting youth to/helping them navigate resources relevant to their situation. Performs crisis intervention. Works with youth to develop job-building skills, define employment goals, and obtain/maintain employment. Supports their educational advancement.
Supports the management of the youth internship program. Recruits, trains, and supports internship worksites and develops partnerships with businesses/organizations to secure employment opportunities for youth. Prepares and places youth in internships at worksites, overseeing and supporting their progress throughout. Completes periodic internship and worksite assessments and surveys at determined intervals.
Supports the management of the UP4Youth mentor program. Creates partnerships with community groups, faith-based organizations, and others to recruit mentors. Strives to recruit mentors who come from similar backgrounds, culture, and/or experiences as our youth. Trains mentors and ensures/maintains documentation of their qualifications and clearances. Matches youth with mentors, keeping in mind the youth’s unique experiences and employment/education/life goals. Oversees the mentoring relationship, ensuring appropriate time and support are given.
Promotes and manages youth support groups and mentor support groups at determined intervals. Ensures topics of discussion that support their unique, collective experiences.
Supports the management of the UP4Youth Ambassador program.
Plans, facilitates, and supports youth workshops and events, ensuring turnout and active engagement. Works in collaboration with the UP4Youth and the Communications team to promote/communicate events to our youth.
Manages, maintains, and updates participant files. Completes and updates case records and submits periodic reports on a timely basis according to agency policy and regulatory requirements.
Supports the maintenance of social media account(s) and other resource platforms for the UP4Youth program. In collaboration with the Communications team, posts on social media all relevant resources/events/communications available to our youth.
Position may require local travel throughout Los Angeles County.

Skills
Bachelor’s degree coupled with 3-4 years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of issues related to foster care, adoption, and/or youth services. Experience in individualized case management and working with at-risk youth.
Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.
Experience in coordinating support groups, workshops, and events, positively representing an organization/business in public spaces preferred.
Able to work with/relate to diverse populations and persons of differing experiences.
