Description
Program Overview: Project Renewal’s Culinary Arts Training Program (CATP) is a 9-month program designed to help individuals launch careers in the food service industry. Students complete 240 hours of hands-on training in a classroom kitchen and 360 hours of paid internships in professional kitchens. CATP is part of the organization’s Workforce Development team, which offers job training, placement, and retention services.Position Summary: The Employment and Retention Specialist plays a key role in helping CATP graduates find and keep jobs in the culinary field. This includes developing employer partnerships, preparing students for the job market, and offering follow-up support to ensure long-term success. The specialist also runs workshops for alumni and supports student recruitment. Key Responsibilities: Match graduates with relevant internships and job opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with food service employers. Manage a caseload of job seekers and employed alumni. Record detailed case notes and updates in Salesforce. Meet monthly job placement and retention targets. Create individualized job search plans with graduates. Attend job fairs and organize hiring events. Track and confirm job interviews, placements, and outcomes. Conduct regular follow-ups with both graduates and employers. Lead job readiness workshops and host weekly alumni sessions. Support outreach and recruitment efforts for new students. Perform other duties as assigned. Core Competencies: Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal, listening, and writing skills; team player with the ability to work independently. Adaptability: Able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities. Cultural Competence: Experience working with diverse populations; knowledge of equity and inclusion practices. Organization: Strong case management and time management skills. Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom/Teams, and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).

Skills
Qualifications: B.A. degree strongly preferred 3 - 5 years of experience in workforce development. Experience in creating successful employer partnerships with the food and hospitality industry Excellent facilitation, presentation and communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage adult learners Prior experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals who have been incarcerated, struggled with substance use, or faced mental health challenges
