The New Jersey Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) seeks three (3) licensed Clinical Social Workers, Certified Social Workers, MSW or BSW with deep knowledge and experience working with people that have experienced homelessness, issues with addiction and or mental health related issues. The purpose of this role is to establish a regular presence in residential healthcare facilities (RHCFs) statewide. This is a contracted hourly position, 35-40 hours per week and the hourly rate is $40.00. The selected candidate will be required to register with the State approved provider of contract services. This position is temporary and will last for approximately 18 months.
These RHCF spaces are filled with some of the most vulnerable people in our state with the most complex social needs. Many RHCF residents are very low income and have experienced homelessness, severe and persistent mental health challenges, and other various traumas.
The goal is to have a consistent presence in the approximately 100 state-licensed RHCFs that serve approximately 3,800 individuals. These clinical social workers will also be required to make routine visits to medical boarding homes as well.
Establishing greater familiarity with these board and care facilities also enables LTCO staff to identify potential step-down facilities for individuals who are currently living in nursing homes but could thrive in a less restrictive environment.
Each of these Clinical Social Workers will be responsible for a geographic territory (North, Central South). They will be required to conduct residents’ rights training for RHCF staff, visit with residents on a regular basis, handle all complaints and concerns generated by their outreach, assist with the formation of resident councils, host residents’ rights Bingo and other outreach activities, and assist with the training of volunteers.
